Bones of Contention - bayou swampy bluesThe swampy rock 'n roll entry of the Swamptone Sampler is Boston, MA's Bones of Contention. A stripped-down trio playing originals hard and fast, this is the alternative sound of the roots of the swamp grown up and twisted by the moss, the humidity, and the heat, not to mention Massachusetts Avenue and Central Square. The band plays originals from the pens of Joe Pete and Mickey Bones, and within one can hear the roots from which they came. But also evidenced, especially in these recordings, are the workings of musicians respectful and appreciative of the past pushing forwards and towards their own rock 'n roll experience and sound.
