Bavarian Hofbrau
The Bavarian Hofbrau Band was founded over twenty years ago by a group of musicians from the North Shore of Boston. In the ensuing years, they have worked on perfecting the style of the oompah band. Members have visited the Old Vienna Hofbrau in Montreal, the World's Fair in Tennessee and have even traveled to various cities and towns in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Many of their melodies are also great favorites in German areas in of this country.
Most of us have heard "Du,Du, Liegst Mir Am Herzen" , or "In Munchen Stet ein Hofbrau Haus" at some time or other. This group has been heard all over New England - as far north as Limestone, Maine; as far south as New Haven, Connecticut; as far west as North Adams, MA and as far east as the many excursion ships sailing from Boston Harbor. They have been featured at Quincy Market in Boston, The Hopkinton (NH) Fair, the Samoset Resort, Cliffside at Ogunquit, the Rochester (NH) Fair, the Boston Brew House, International Festivals in Somerset, NH, and Peabody, MA.
The group is flexible in their persentations, being able to stroll through various venues - either outdoors at a company picnic or indoors at a conference center. They are also capable, when advised ahead of time, of playing for a club dance. With the addition of a drummer, they are able to play a combination of German and American dance music.
When in concert, the band presents a tour of the German speaking world, starting in Vienna, going north into Bohemia, then west through Northern Germany and then south through the Black Forest and Bavaria. After a short trip through tiny Liechtenstein, they move to Switzerland, with appropriate Swiss tunes and maybe even the famous thirteen foot Alp Horn of the Ricola TV commercials.
The tour finishes with a number of German American melodies from Minnesota and Pennsylvania. Always crowd pleasers, the Bavarian Hofbrau Band remains ready, willing and able to fulfill your needs for good, solid German music.
